 Police bust 57 Manitoba Warriors : Winnipeg police have dealt a significant blow to what they call the city's most powerful street gang, punctuating a nine-month investigation with a major bust on Main Street late last week. Project Falling Star, initiated in April 2013, is being credited with a seizure that led to 57 arrests of Manitoba Warriors and associates, as well as the seizure of cocaine, guns, and thousands of dollars in cash.

 Is gang activity behind violence at Ky. prison housing Vt. inmates? :  BEATTYVILLE, Ky. - Some 205 Vermont inmates remain on lockdown in a Kentucky prison after violence in the facility. Now, Vermont's Corrections Commissioner is investigating if gang activity is to blame. Commissioner Andy Pallito says there have been four physical assaults between Vermont inmates at the Lee Adjustment Center in Kentucky since the summer. The facility is run by the Corrections Corporation of America. Pallito says prison officials there have come up with a plan to curb future violence. Still, the commissioner is sending a team from Vermont to Kentucky next week to inspect the facility and make sure the safety plan is being carried out.

Authorities say members of a San Diego-based gang lured women and girls with promises of luxurious lifestyles. They say the dozens of victims, spread across 46 cities in 23 states, were instead branded with tattoos, passed from gang member to gang member and forced to sell themselves.

 Seattle area bank hold-ups linked to L.A. street gang: A string of carefully timed, precision takeover bank robberies in the Seattle area last year might have been the work of a sophisticated gang from Los Angeles. Agents with the FBI South Gang Task Force arrested five people Thursday, suspected members of a gang that investigators think has been using the same methods since the 1990s. The FBI thinks the robbers, members of an L.A. street gang called the "Four-Tre Crips," targeted banks without guards or teller barriers and used stolen cars and rental cars to make their getaways.

 Newport News police aim at gang issue in middle schools: Middle school students are the focus of a new program by the Newport News Police Department designed to keep youth away from gangs and out of trouble. School resource officers are reaching out to eighth-graders in the city's eight middle schools in a classroom-based program aimed at educating students on the dangers of gangs. The prevention course is based on a state program titled Virginia Rules, which is sponsored by the state Attorney's General Office to educate students on the law and how it relates to teens.

 American Indian gang trio face racketeering trial: MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Three members of a violent American Indian gang known for terrorizing people from the Twin Cities to reservations in greater Minnesota, Wisconsin and beyond will go on trial Tuesday in what authorities call one of the largest gang cases to come out of Indian Country. Wakinyon Wakan McArthur, 34, — an alleged leader of the Native Mob — and two alleged Native Mob "soldiers," Anthony Francis Cree, 26, and William Earl Morris, 25, are accused of being part of a criminal enterprise that used intimidation and violence to keep the gang in power. They face multiple charges, including conspiracy to participate in racketeering and attempted murder in the aid of racketeering.
