 WHAT IS NAGIA? 
  

The National Alliance of Gang Investigators Associations (NAGIA), formed in 1998, is a cooperative organization representing 19 state and regional gang investigators associations with over 20,000 members.  It provides  for leadership in developing and recommending strategies to prevent and control gang crime, administer professional training as well as assist criminal justice professionals and the public in identifying and tracking gangs, gang members and the gang crime around the world.

 Chicago police unveil crime-fighting strategy for areas on South and West sides:  
 (1/25/2012)  Chicago police officers from several specialized units will focus on two districts where nearly a quarter of the city's murders and shootings took place last year under a new strategy laid out Monday by Superintendent Garry McCarthy. 
  
 Suffolk Cops to Redeploy Anti-gang Unit to Precincts:   
 (1/25/2012) Suffolk County is redeploying the police department’s anti-gang investigators from a centralized unit back into the seven precincts to make it easier to gather intelligence and be more engaged with communities, County Executive Steve Bellone announced Tuesday in Huntington Station.  
  
 Hundreds gather for sixth annual regional gang conference at LCC:
 (1/25/2012)  Educators, law enforcement professionals, and others who work with youth across Eastern North Carolina gathered in the auditorium of LCC’s Waller Building on Monday for the sixth annual Eastern Carolina Gang Conference.
  
 More young people are killed in Chicago than any other American city:
 (1/25/2012)  Neighbors hold a candlelight vigil in rememberance of 18-year-old Albert Vaughn, who was known for playing basketball with the younger children in the neighborhood and trying to keep them out of trouble. "If he was guilty of anything, he was guilty of always protecting these kids," said Trualanda Fields, a neighborhood mother who was among the 50 people who gathered on South Throop Street to pay tribute to Vaughn.
